A Gentle Breath

The air felt soft... and warm. My ears gave a tiny twitch, just enough to catch the quiet murmur across the room. I felt the steady warmth beneath me, so I shifted my front paws, testing the solid weight of each step. Across the smooth white table, light reflected off a dark plastic bottle. I slowly leaned my snout forward, nudging the edge of the smooth tabletop. It stayed still. I exhaled gently, resting my chin against the surface, quite content to just exist.
