The Rubber Perch
I wandered down the corridor toward the front door, drawn by the cool draft slipping beneath the threshold. Tucked by the wall stood a pair of tall, bright yellow rain boots. Pausing by the left boot, I tapped its thick tread before hauling my plush frame up along the rubber shaft. With a quiet heave, I slipped down inside. My feet met the soft fleece insole with a muffled thud. Heh... surrounded by rubbery gloom with just my top hat and eyes peering over the yellow rim, I settled in to watch the sliver of daylight cutting across the entryway.
