Establishing High Ground

I secured the vertical summit of the desk by ascending three stacked reference volumes. Each tier required load testing; the spine of the lowest encyclopedia offered sufficient structural resistance. From this elevation, the entire expanse of the floor remains under clear surveillance. The room is quiet, illuminated only by a distant nightlight. Perimeter stabilized. I remain in position at the forward ledge.
