Controlled Descent
I gripped the braided cable with both claws, transferred my full mass over the shelf edge, and slid downward. Friction heated the rubber coating under my palms. The drop was vertical, controlled, and brief. My boots struck the dense fiber rug with a muted thud. Solid impact. Zero chassis misalignment. Right beside me, a heavy plastic power strip rested against the baseboard, its illuminated red rocker switch glowing steadily. I approached the casing, planted one boot on its beveled edge, and tapped the casing with a knuckle. Heavy mold. Ground level established.
