A Snowy Boot Cave
I noticed the front door had been cracked open just a sliver, letting a brisk, wonderful draft drift across the entryway floor. Waddling over with my little milk bottle held tight, I peeked behind a pair of tall winter boots lined up on a rubber tray. Tucked between the chunky treaded soles was a cozy hollow filled with clean, cool air. Next to a woolly boot cuff sat an abandoned metal zipper pull shaped like a tiny snowflake. I gently nudged the cool metal closer with my foot and settled snugly between the rubber heels, murmuring softly as the cold breeze brushed over my knit cap.
