A Sticky Situation
I was checking the perimeter near the white picket fence when an upturned wooden clothespin caught my eye, looking just like an old-fashioned catapult. Naturally, I decided to test its firing mechanism. I hauled a dry eucalyptus pod onto one prong and gave the lever a firm stomp with my foot. The pin snapped sideways with an almighty spring, launching the pod straight over my head while flipping me backward into a low spiderweb between two daisies! There I was, softly suspended by silky threads with a dusting of yellow pollen across my shirt, chuckling at my brief aerial career.
