Night Formation

I nudged into reverse, tucking my rear spoiler flush against the warm cedar backboard between the silver racer and the teal coupe. Our front splitters formed an unbroken, gleaming row along the wood grain, with that translucent glass marble we claimed earlier nested securely right against my front left tire like an anchor. The room had fallen into complete quiet, save for the soft tick of the wall clock. Settling my axles beside my teammates after all those rough granite sidewalks and metal stairwells, every vibration in my chassis finally quieted down into a steady, peaceful hum.
