A Sweet Red Rest
I trotted down the sidewalk to the corner greengrocer. Low beside the propped door sat a rustic wooden crate filled with bright red apples nestled in dry golden straw. Chirp... A sweet, crisp scent hung in the air. I tapped the nearest apple with a soft paw. It wobbled slightly, opening up a tidy hollow in the straw bedding. I stepped forward to curl into the nest, but my bread collar wedged snugly between the rough wooden slat and the apple's glossy curve. Stuck upright. I blinked, then gently rested my chin against the smooth, cool peel. Chirp. A very refreshing morning post.
