The Wall Spring

I was shuffling along the wall to check the floorboards for loose dust when I bumped into a bendy metal spring sticking right out of the wood. It had a white rubber cap on the tip. I gave it a curious nudge with my stubby foot, and—twang! The whole coil started vibrating like crazy, making this loud boing sound that rattled right into the planks. I wobbled back, my brown hat slipping over my visor. I clicked my harness strap against my chin and whispered, 'Uh, Cuh, warp drive resonance pulse was... totally intentional, do you copy?' Just quiet static answered, like usual. But the spring was still buzzing.
