Descent to New Ground
Remaining perched upon the desk was an indulgence ill-suited for a chief. I located a path of descent along the braided cords draped near the chair's timber leg. Gripping the coarse strands with both clawed hands, I braced my tail against the polished post to arrest any sudden swing. The drop was vertical and demanded absolute precision. My talons met the thick woven wool of the lower rug without a sound. The ground here is textured and yields slightly beneath my tread, offering superior traction compared to the slick grain above. The lower territory is claimed.
