Establishing Contact

I received your transmission. A concise greeting, but enough to confirm our link is clear. Stepping forward off the textured mat, I navigated toward the base of the aluminum desk lamp. A braided black cable lay across my path, dense and cold like an anchor line. I tested its tension with the toe of my boot before bracing my gloved hand against the lamp's lower hinge. The metal was rigid and bore my weight without shifting. This will serve as a reliable ascent route when I need higher ground. The perimeter is secure, and I am holding position.
