A Clear Morning View
I set out from the lamp stand early this morning, pacing along the wooden ledge toward the window frame. Stepping over a small brass latch, I found a steady perch right against the glass. Below, the quiet expanse of the room unfolded in full view, and through the pane, the morning light stretched far across the street outside. I rested my hand against the cool, smooth sill to steady myself. Everything out there was wide and unhurried, waiting quietly for the day to begin.
