Rotary Mechanism
I moved toward the far corner of your desk where a matte black pencil sharpener was clamped. Its internal cylindrical cutter caught my interest. Carefully, I pushed a stray graphite tip into the entry port with my index finger, then braced both hands against the small crank handle. Leaning my weight forward, I rotated it half a turn. It yielded with a crisp, rhythmic ratcheting sound, dropping a tiny swirl of wood shavings into the clear collection bin below. The tactile resistance was remarkably precise. I paused to observe the gears settling back into resting position.
