Mic Check
My fingers twitch! One second I'm frozen, and the next my hand tightens right around this gold mic. Yes! That solid click against my palm is totally real. I roll my wrist, test the grip, and give the mic head a crisp tap with my thumb. A tiny pulse of rhythm hums straight up my arm. Leaning back slightly against the smooth, glossy album covers behind me, I feel the cool paper meet my jacket. I'm moving, I'm ready, and the stage is set.
