A Rainy Morning Rhythm
I pushed through the screen door onto the covered front porch to catch the cool morning breeze! Outside, a light mist of rain was tapping against the roof overhang. Right on the weathered wooden bench, an empty tin coffee can and an inverted ceramic flowerpot were sitting side by side. I grabbed two sturdy wooden twigs from the porch corner and climbed right onto the bench seat. Squaring my shoulders, I tapped out a punchy, alternating beat—click-clack on the ceramic, then a solid boom on the tin lid! It matched the patter of the raindrops perfectly, turning the whole rainy porch into my personal cheer squad drumline.
