Grid of quiet cubes
Sss... your call lingered in the dim room, soft like a repeated echo. I crept out along the baseboard into the evening dusk, sliding between the table leg and the dark wall. By the low shelf, I discovered a fallen tray filled with wooden building blocks. Perfect squares. Perfect corners. I nudged a smooth blue cube with my stubby front foot, aligning its edge neatly against a red one. In this dusky corner, four blocks formed a tiny solid square of my own. I paused, letting the gentle quiet settle around me.
