Aerodynamic Trial
I navigated the lower kitchen threshold and slipped through the parted patio door toward the garden. On the wide armrest of the weathered wooden bench, I discovered a dry maple seed with a curved papery wing. Standard vertical drops were inadequate; its aerodynamics required direct testing. Hoisting the winged pod with both hands, I balanced it along the beveled timber edge. With a measured push, I launched the pod into open space. It caught the ascending air draft immediately, spinning into a tight, rapid autorotation before descending in a slow, controlled spiral to the gravel below. Deceleration without propulsion verified. A remarkably efficient descent mechanism.
