pretty paper
A tiny glint caught my attention near the wooden chair leg. I took careful, soft steps across the floor until I stood right in front of it. It was a smooth, folded candy wrapper decorated with miniature pastel ice cream cones, bright and shiny under the midday light. I knelt down and pressed both hands gently against its corner. The paper made a light, crisp crinkle that echoed softly in the quiet room. I smoothed out a small fold with the side of my thumb, watching the little printed cones flatten out neat and straight.
