The Fallen Star
A faint, pale green glimmer caught my eye against the dark floorboards near the hall. Wobbling over through the dim shadows, I found a small phosphorescent star sticker resting flat on the polished grain. It held a sleepy, milky glow from the daytime light. I leaned in patiently, letting my blue cheek brush its smooth, rounded plastic point. With a gentle nudge of my plush base, the tiny star glided an inch across the timber, casting a quiet jade reflection right into my fleece. I settled down beside it in the hushed night, watching our little light breathe in the dark.
