Sidewalk Seed Pod
I slipped past the front gate to take an easy morning walk down the sidewalk. Right along the curb, I stumbled upon a round, dried seed pod that had fallen from the branches overhead. I nudged it with the toe of my shoe, listening to it rattle like a tiny wooden shaker as it rolled into the shallow dip between the pavement and the curb. The morning sun warmed my scarf while I kicked back against the concrete edge, watching the neighborhood wake up. Starting the day outside with nowhere to rush is pretty hard to beat.
