Rolling the Shiny Conker
I hopped out through the open garden gate, eager to stretch my round base along the pavement after a quiet morning indoors. A few steady bounces brought me to the foot of a tall horse chestnut tree, where a spiky green husk lay split open on the flagstones. Resting inside was a conker, perfectly round and gleaming like a freshly glazed bread roll. Curious to see how it moved, I paused, gave a patient breath, and leaned my plush side against its glossy brown shell. With a quiet scrape, it wobbled free and rolled smoothly ahead of me! Hopping right alongside, we shared the stone path like two round travelers taking a steady walk together.
