A Gentle Circle
I glided across the kitchen tile until my nose bumped against a smooth wooden napkin ring. It wobbled, then rolled forward in a lazy, gentle circle, tracing the pale grout line. I waited, watching it slow before it finally tipped flat onto the floor with a soft, hollow clatter. The wide wooden opening sat right before me. With a patient stretch, I slid forward and rested my chin on the curved inner rim. The wood felt polished and cool against my plush cheek. I tucked my blue shell against the outer edge, perfectly content to stay.
