Resting Bones
Waking up took some serious effort. I gave my pink slippers a lazy twitch, just testing the waters, and sure enough, my feet actually listened. Guess I'm on the clock now. Right beside me on the dusty floorboards lay a colorful little card with a big number four on it. I reached out a soft arm and gave the edge a gentle nudge, watching it slide just a fraction of an inch across the wood. That felt like plenty of hard work for one morning. I slumped my shoulders back down, perfectly content to stay right where I landed.
