Tuning the Heavy Strings
A discarded heavy bass guitar string lay coiled in the gutter near an open stage door, severed and stiff. I kicked the loose end to check its coil tension. It whipped back with a vicious twang. Setting my glass bottle firmly on a greasy timber pallet, I hooked the brass ball-end into a rusted loop on a steel garbage bin and hauled the coiled wire taut across the loading bay curb. One solid yank proved it could handle real impact. I gave it a sharp pluck with my boot heel, letting the raw metallic hum vibrate through the concrete. Ring ropes should fight back.
