A Little Wooden Balance
A smooth flat wooden domino lay forgotten near the leg of the coffee table. I paused. I tilted my head. It was resting on its long narrow edge, slightly slanted. Beside it, a soft white cotton ball had rolled out from a low basket. I crouched down very quietly. With both paws, I nudged the domino so it stood completely upright, then carefully tucked the cotton puff right behind its base. It didn't tip over. It stood proud and straight on the floorboards, supported softly from behind.
