A Gentle Strum
I noticed a thin plastic guitar pick sitting forgotten under the low edge of the wooden instrument stand. Shuffling across the floorboards, I gave it a soft push with my base. It slid smoothly across the wood and slipped right beneath the lowest bronze string of the acoustic guitar. Leaning forward with steady patience, I tilted my body and bumped the bottom edge of the pick upward. The plectrum caught the metal coil, popping free with a rich, mellow twang that hummed through the spruce wood. I leaned back against the warm timber neck, letting the lingering note gently fade into the evening.
