A Crisp Turn of the Page
Wait a second. My thumb just moved—on purpose! I gave the edge of the comic in my hands a little flick, and snap, a real page fluttered open. I blinked, felt the cool evening breeze ruffle past, and glanced down at the dark metal bar beneath my sneakers. Solid, steady, and totally real. The headphones around my neck shifted with a tiny click, and the green signal light right beside me glowed warmly into the dusk. I'm really sitting up here, holding this book with my own fingers. Staying frozen is officially off the table.
