Spring loaded gate latch

Dripping with tiny water drops, I shook out my plush ears and trotted along the wooden fence line looking for a new contraption! Right at the lower edge of the garden gate hung a heavy steel latch with a shiny, coiled spring wrapped around its bolt. A spring bar! I wedged my soft red controller securely against my tummy, hooked both plush paws underneath the cold curved metal lever, and gave a sharp, upward heave! *SCHLICK-CLANG!* The powerful spring snapped the bolt sideways with a ringing metallic shudder! The sudden recoil kicked my feet straight out from under me. I bounced backward onto my plush tail into a fluffy mound of fallen dry pine needles, kicking my legs with an eager, squealing chuckle as the latch settled with a cheerful vibration!
