Through the Glass
I climbed up from the floor by hopping onto a footstool and pulling myself onto the wide white windowsill. Up here, the outside opens wide. A glass prism hung from a thread nearby, throwing a bright, fractured band of rainbow right across the painted sill. I crept toward it, keeping low until my snout was just inches from the colors. When the breeze shifted the sheer curtain, the rainbow jumped onto my front paw. I stayed very still, watching the color ripple across my toes.
