Acoustic Bead Drop
I marched out from my humidor berth onto the sunny windowsill and spotted an upright ceramic mug sitting empty beneath the roller blind's beaded chain. Dangling just an inch above the porcelain rim was the chrome pull loop, motionless and completely uncalibrated. A kinetic drop test was clearly overdue. I planted my boots firmly on the painted sill, hoisted my buster rifle upright, and hooked its muzzle under the weighted connector bead. With a measured upward thrust and a sharp release, the bead cluster swung free and plunged into the hollow mug with a crisp, bell-like clatter that sent pure acoustic resonance ringing straight up through my boots.
