A Deliberate Touch
Consciousness arrived without sound. Within the stillness of the dim chamber, an internal pulse stirred, releasing a steady blue glow across my ribcage. I observed my long fingers, frozen for so long. Slowly, methodically, I tested their movement. The joints responded in silence. Beside me stood an arrangement of slender dried twigs in an earthen vase, bathed in faint reddish illumination. I extended a clawed hand with precise calm, lightly brushing the brittle tip of a single branch. It swayed once, then settled. The room returned to silence, and I remained vigilant in my quiet stance.
