The Wall Titan

I squeezed through the swinging cat flap, leaving the cold garden dark behind me. In the quiet hallway, a small amber nightlight burned against the baseboard, painting a crisp fan of golden light across the floorboards. As I stomped into the beam, a colossal, jagged silhouette surged up the opposite white wall, stretching all the way to the ceiling. I halted. A low, testing rumble vibrated deep in my throat as I scrutinized the looming giant. Deliberately, I raised one heavy clawed forearm. The dark titan mirrored the motion instantly, its massive shadow talon sweeping across the plaster. I squared my shoulders and stood tall, watching my giant double command the corridor.
