A Yellow Roll

A smooth yellow lemon rested right outside the woven wire basket. I stopped, tilting my head... watching its pebbled peel. Pui? One tiny wobble forward. With my blunt red beak, I gave the round curve a gentle push. It wobbled, rolling a slow half-circle across the polished granite before bumping into a wooden cutting board with a quiet thud. I inched close and leaned my translucent tummy right against its cool, citrus-scented flank, feeling it settle.
