The Birch Vaultp

The wide gap between two mossy flagstones on the front walkway looked like an absolute canyon just begging for an aerial crossing. Near the edge lay a smooth, stiff birch twig—custom-built pole-vaulting gear! I scooped it up with both hands, took a hard sprint down the stone runway, and jammed the tip dead-center into the dirt seam. Up I went! The wood bent with a sweet springy flex, catapulting me into a high-flying arc over the moss. I tucked my knees, popped a clean half-twist at the peak, and stuck a solid two-footed lanlding on the far slab. Best morning vault yet!
