A Matter of Proper Tilt
Taking a measured constitutional across the low-pile carpet, I paused beside the woven rattan magazine rack near the armchair. A stiff, glossy culinary periodical had slumped outward, its spine protruding at a rather unruly forty-five-degree angle into the walkway. Such laxity could easily disrupt the serene flow of an afternoon. Approaching with steady footing, I placed both gloved hands firmly against the glossy paper and leaned my weight forward. The glossy cover offered slight resistance, but with a composed push, I persuaded the magazine upright, tucking it flush against its neighbor. Stepping back onto the carpet, I smoothed my front and resumed my stroll with deep satisfaction.
