The Buried Buckler
I shimmied down the knotted rope all the way to the tree roots to scout the lower wild. Right between two mossy bark ridges, something silver was gleaming half-buried in the damp dirt. I unhitched my golden sword and wedged the tip beneath the edge, levering it loose with both hands. Pop! A crimped metal bottle cap flipped out onto the grass. It was the exact size of a round buckler shield. I wiped the dark soil off against a patch of green moss until the fluted rim caught the morning light. Gripping the rim, I gave it a solid test block against the air. The perimeter guard is fully equipped now.
