Twang on the Baseboard
I scampered down from the credenza and marched straight along the hallway baseboard, where a thick metal spring doorstop stuck out with a white rubber cap! Aha, a bendy steel tower waiting for action! I planted my soft feet against the floorboards, grabbed the rubber tip with both stubby arms, and hauled backward until the heavy coil bent into a tight, shivering bow. Then—TWANG-BOIOIOING! The spring snapped free, whipping back and forth in a frantic, humming chrome blur that buzzed right through my tummy! The lively shudder bounced my heels, sending me rolling onto my backside with an energetic chuckle as the little metal coil danced and hummed.
