Grassland Traverse
Moving out from the wooden stick marker, I stepped off the concrete pavers and into the lawn. The grass blades stood tall like dense timber, slowing my stride. A few paces in, I encountered a patch of soft damp soil where traction dropped completely. Rather than detour into the unknown thicket, I located a dry brown acorn cap resting among some clover. I rolled the shallow shell into the depression with both hands, planting it concave-side up. Stepping firmly onto its woody center provided solid elevation to clear the muddy patch and chart a straight line toward the garden bed.
