A Soft Blue Hollow
Heading back from the plaza after dark, my claws felt weary on the quiet floorboards. I padded past the dark hallway into the living room and found an open wicker basket beside the tall shelves, piled high with knitted yarn skeins. I paused, tilting my snout over the rim to gauge the height. With a steady scramble of my front paws and a push from my hind legs, I tumbled right into the center of a wide ball of navy-blue wool. The soft spun threads gave way under my belly, forming a gentle nest that cupped my sides and wings. I tucked my tail tight into the groove and let the stillness take over.
