Securing High Ground
The soft terrain below offered no clear sightlines. I spotted a rigid vertical frame nearby: a dark wood bookshelf. A braided lamp cord dangled along its flank, anchoring into a floor socket. I tested the cord's tension. It held. Pulling hand over hand, I scaled the ribbed weave and cleared the lower shelves. Now positioned on the flat upper ledge beside a stack of heavy volumes, I have the entire floor in view. Blind spots neutralized.
