A Midnight Perimeter Check
"Good kitty"? I am an apprentice patrol on active guard, not a parlor lap warmer. The room turned dark after eight, so I crept out from the shelter of the heavy book cover to scout the perimeter. Along the base of the couch, a rogue wool ball from a dropped sweater sat lodged in the shadow. I dropped low, crept forward in silent strides, and struck it with a firm paw. It rolled three inches and bumped the sofa leg with a soft thud. Territory secured. I sat upright beside it, ears twitching at the hall shadows, watching for what comes next.#morerealistic4u#part3
