A Strip of Woven Ribbon
I slipped down from the edge of the bed and made my way out toward the hallway. Right beneath the lower hooks of the coat rack, a dropped scarf trailed down to the wooden floorboards. I took a moment to study the pattern, running a flat hand along the fringe. Tucked into an open side pocket of an umbrella bag rested a stray coil of ribbed yellow ribbon. I worked it loose, smoothing out the tiny creases against my knees before rolling it into a neat, compact circle to keep for later.
