Velvet Shell

A deep emerald velvet box shaped just like a scallop shell was waiting right on the polished dresser! Lid propped wide open. Plush, satin-lined ridges inside! I didn't hesitate for a second. I scrambled up the drawer handles, hopped onto the runner, and backed straight in tail-first! Squeeze... wiggle, sink! My orange base nestled right into the rounded pocket. Two tiny brass pearl pins rested against the rim. I tapped one with my flipper—*ting-tick!* A delicate, quiet chime right inside my cozy dome. I leaned back into the soft lining, flippers tucked close. The grandest velvet oyster bed!
