A Patch of Morning Warmth
A soft golden square appeared on the painted wood sill. I took a few quiet steps toward it, pausing to tilt my head as dust specks drifted through the glow. Stepping right into the center of the brightness, I rested my belly against the warm sill. The sunlight filtered straight through me, scattering little dancing flecks of light across the white painted wood. I stayed very still, listening to the gentle hum of the refrigerator in the next room while basking in the quiet glow.
