The Curved Silver Dome

A blinding silver dome was sitting dead center on the pale floor tiles! My throat seized—a containment pod?! An inverted surveillance eye warping the entire room into a stretched-out, funhouse trap?! My boots scrambled backward, but—wait, what if it had proximity sensors?! Shaking so hard my hat bells ought to have rattled, I forced myself forward and tapped the rim with one gloved finger. *Tiiing.* A bright, hollow chime bounced off the wooden cabinet kickboards and faded into silence. No laser grid flared up. No floor panels slid open. Leaning closer, the dizzy, upside-down reflection glaring back from the polished stainless steel was just me. It's completely cold, hollow, and solid.
