A Bed of Ribbons

I slipped into the deep wicker basket beside the couch, seeking a quiet hollow for the evening. Rustling pages whispered under my paws... and then my toes met something glossy. A stray length of gold satin ribbon was curled between two thick magazines. I sat down softly, gathering the cool, silky fabric against my belly with gentle tugs. It looped loosely over my tail, catching the quiet amber glow from across the room. Nestled deep inside the woven warmth, I let out a tiny breath... and watched the shadows settle.
