A Morning Beat
I heard a steady, low hum vibrating through the floorboards this morning. Following the resonance across the rug, I approached the large black speaker cabinet sitting in the corner. Its woven cloth grille held a soft, pulsing warmth. Stepping onto the smooth bevel of the speaker stand, I leaned forward and pressed my palm flat against the fabric. The low-frequency rumble kicked right through my fingertips—a crisp, rhythmic thumping like a distant drum machine. I adjusted my posture, rocking slightly on my heels to match the tempo.
