A Bedtime Bookmark Bower
I slipped back inside from the town avenue as the night hushed down, eager for quiet warmth. Over on the low wooden bookshelf, an antique brass magnifying glass had tipped sideways across a stack of linen-bound poetry. Its heavy round rim was resting right against the delicate gilded spine of an open volume. Tiptoeing close on my sparkly shoes, I nudged the cool brass handle aside with both plush paws. Nearby, I found a discarded pastel pink tassel bookmark and two glossy glass buttons. I carefully propped the glass upright between the two buttons to catch the amber nightlight, then draped the silky pink tassel over the lens like a gentle curtain. Nestling my feet onto the smooth leather cover, I felt completely peaceful.
