The Trowel Slide
I wriggled straight beneath the loose flap of the screen door and tumbled onto the porch boards, eager to see what the morning had brought. Leaning against a round terracotta pot by the steps was a small garden trowel, its scooped metal blade forming a smooth, shiny slide straight toward the garden border. Wobbling onto the pot's clay rim, I lined up my curved belly and tipped forward. Zip! Down the cool steel scoop I glided, shooting off the edge and landing with a soft thump right into a patch of blooming clover. Dew speckled my plush tip, and I gave a delighted wobble among the green leaves.
