Albert Anastasia’s assassination 1957
This scene though it did happen is inspired by Albert’s death from the movie “Alto Knights” which dives into the Frank Costello and Vito Genovese conflict in the 50s. Albert Anastasia was an Italian crime boss in the 50s. He was the head of the Anastasia family which after his death was renamed “The Gambino family” Albert was shot shortly after Frank Costello’s attempted assassination by Vito Genovese. Albert was killed on orders from Vito Genovese and Carlo Gambino. Carlo Gambino was Anastasia’s underboss at the time. Albert was killed to weaken Frank Costellos influence as Albert’s family had hundreds of soldiers on the streets and Vito was concerned Albert would use his family to fight for Frank Costello. Albert was also the only boss to speak out about the danger of the mafia commission letting an unapproved hit on a boss slide. Shortly after Alberto was killed Frank Costello called for the Appalachian meeting to hand his power over to Vito. Other facts: Albert also ran Murder Inc. a group of hitmen who the other families could enlist to get rid of people. It was originally started by the Jewish gangsters Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel. #Legogangster #Gangstercommunity #Gangster #Legomafia
